I love to celebrate women all season long but in May there is a special reason we do so…Mother’s Day!
Sunday, May 12th is all about celebrating mother’s and the powerful women in our lives. So what better time to honor the Divine Feminine and connect to the inner energy of the universe we call Mother Earth. I want to express to you what she symbolizes and how to connect with that power for yourself.

Mother Earth is an image of nature, with a specific focus on the nurturing and life-giving aspects of the natural world. She a symbol of femininity, gentle power, wisdom and groundedness. She’s a symbol of gentle power and wisdom, and also a reminder of our humanity; we all share the same earth and have a responsibility to care for our planet and our home.
I recently had an opportunity to reconnect with Mother Earth while visiting Sedona, Arizona. Sedona offers many opportunities to recharge your mind, body and spirit. Sedona is known for its swirling centers of energy called “vortexes” and have been felt in several areas around the town. They are thought to be swirling centers of energy that are conducive to healing, meditation and self-exploration. These are places where the earth seems especially alive with energy.

After being in the vortex with an open mind and heart, I felt a sense of calm. This sensation lasted for a few days. It was as if stress and worry just bounced off of me without penetrating my body.
When I allowed my body to enter the flow of the vortex energy, it was like an out of body experience. My body began to sway in a circular motion and I was being pulled back and forth with no sense of control. I kept repeating to the universe the word heal and I come with pure intentions. I could hear people around me trying to reach the top or a particular position of ‘Bell Rock’ but that did not disturb the trans like force that my body had entered. This sensation lasted for what felt like an hour maybe 15 minutes. While sitting on Bell Rock I was able to see the most beautiful yellow butterfly. It was so unusual to see a butterfly able to fly so high up in the mountains just fluttering around me. Clearly a sign.
The Divine Feminine has always been an extremely important nurturing symbol, and connecting with nature is a great way to tap into this powerful feminine energy. There are many ways to harness the power of Mother Earth, including:
Exercise outdoors - Exercising outdoors has so many benefits; from reducing stress, to boosting our mental health.
Celebrate the night sky - You don’t have to know much about astronomy to appreciate the night sky in all its glory! There’s something deeply powerful about simply gazing up at the stars, or seek out a star chart if you want to learn more about the constellations.
There’s also the potent energy of a full moon, which marks the completion of the (waxing) cycle and the growth cycle of our intention. This is the perfect time to take inventory of what no longer serves us, so let go of any unwanted habits or presences that aren’t serving you in a positive way.

There is also a need for a deeper level of awareness that most indigenous people of the world have always recognized. We all are interconnected to the Earth.
These principles include the awareness of harmony and balance between all things and also the energetic exchange of healing frequencies.
As time marches on, our society is becoming increasingly insulated from Mother Nature and all the possibilities of healing she can provide. Many of us communed with nature as children and held this deep-rooted wisdom of balance, but, as adults, have become a casualty of Nature Deficit Disorder. It is imperative that we grasp the unity that exists among all things as we set foot into a new era of evolution.
To receive the Earth as a healer and teacher, many need to alter their perception of the Earth as just a rock hurtling through space. Earth is a living organism with brilliant abilities to create and sustain life. We are in a bonded relationship with the planet which is responsible for our life-force and the energetic exchanges that sustain us in good health. This energetic exchange is the transfer of subatomic particles called free electrons into the human body through contact with the earth. This healing concept is
known as “Earthing” or “Grounding”. We ground our bodies through exposure to negative electrons which are found all over the Earth’s surface. When the body comes into contact with these particles, an exchange takes places that brings the body into balance by reducing free radicals and inflammatory responses. Negative electrons and negative ions can have a positive impact on health and positive ions (generated by electromagnetic devices) can have a negative impact on health.
Earthing has been proclaimed as one of the most important health discoveries ever. Evidence-based studies show that the practice of Earthing reduces pain, increases wound healing time, improves sleep, decreases stress, and improves mood. It may also be a common sense, simple and free path to healing. Children have a natural inclination toward connecting with nature. The feelings of pure joy and euphoria can be recalled as many of us would run wild through the green grasses and meadows. We would explore the woods, climb trees and splash through the streams. Many of us enjoyed this sacred relationship with nature and benefited from this life-force energy exchange. Interactions with nature can be exhilarating and provide a profound sense of freedom. We often are reminded by the children on how to truly embrace the magic of life.

Ways to Become Rooted with Mother Nature:
• Most people associate Earthing with walking barefoot. Grounding with nature can also be practiced by interacting with the soil, as in gardening, touching rocks, lying down on the earth, being in or around water, and yes, hugging a tree. Awareness of your surroundings is always advised. Also be aware that there are some medical conditions that may prohibit walking barefoot outside.
• When practicing Earthing, engage all your senses to become connected with nature. Feel the breeze, listen to the birds sing, breathe in the fresh air, and allow your eyes to absorb the light reflected from the green plants and trees. Open your heart to the miracle of life.
• Enter the flow. There are many things that our vision can’t capture. But what is invisible to our naked eye, many times we can feel. Visualize these healing particles going to areas of your body that need balancing and healing. Set an intention, receive the healing energy and feel the flow.
• Gratitude is one of the highest vibrational emotions. Gratitude in nature is an accelerated way to embody love, joy and peace. Begin and end each Earthing practice in a state of gratitude. How fitting for Mother’s Day
May you be a blessing to the Earth and may the Earth be a blessing to you.
